Rocky Gully Shiraz
Tasting Notes: It’s supple. It’s juicy. It’s savoury. It hits the spot. What’s more, it’s laced with all the flavour and depth expected from this producer. There’s pepper, eucalypt, spice, brightness of fruit, neatly appointed tannins and a fine thread of acidity holding everything in balance. And a bargain to boot.
Santa Rita Medalla Real Cab Sau
Tasting Notes: Lustrous ruby red. Ripe red and black fruit aromas mingle with leather and spice, exquisitely balanced by wood notes evoking vanilla and toast. This wine displays supple tannins and a majestic structure with a complex and persistent finish.
Mt Pleasant Elizabeth Semillon
Tasting Notes: Bright green hues. Classic citrus characters of Lime & lemongrass predominate with wonderful intensity and purity. An elegant yet intense palate of pure Semillon fruit providing great line & length.
Evan & Tate Redbrook Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes: In tiptop form. Classic cabernet flavours and structure. Blackcurrant, gravel, lead pencil/chocolate, smoky tobacco and bay leaf. Flows more or less effortlessly through the mouth but the undertow of tannin is not insignificant, no matter how deeply sunk into the fruit it is. Persistent more than passes the test. Ticks all the way along the line.
Featuring our fine selections from France, Italy and Spain that are rated 90 points and above.
USSEGLIO CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE 2015
Tasting Notes: The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape is mostly Grenache blended with 10% Syrah and 5% each of Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It’s mostly (not completely) destemmed and aged 80% in concrete and 20% in older barrels. It’s a terrific, full-bodied beauty that has ripe, sweet tannin, a great mid-palate and hedonistic notes of roasted herbs, black raspberries, chocolate and incense. It’s a no-brainer case purchase.
LA PODERINA ROSSO DI MONTALCINO 2015
Tasting Notes: Full-body, balanced and slightly tannic, good persistence.
TASCA D'ALMERITA CHARDONNAY 2015
Tasting Notes: Golden yellow in color, layered aromas of pineapple and ripe tree fruits complement undertones of pear, candied pineapple, white chocolate, hazelnut and brioche. On the palate, this wine shows poise and presence; a rich and textured wine with a refreshing backbone of acidity that draws into a layered and lasting finish.
BASTIANICH VESPA ROSSO 2013
Tasting Notes: Vespa Rosso is Bastianich’s estate red which balances power and finesse through a combination of indigenous and international varieties. A wine with ripe fruit and a slightly new-world flavor profile. The lush palate makes it drinkable upon release, though it is structured enough for aging.
